Registrant Name Change Registrant Name Change

A Registrant Name Change will transfer the ownership of a .au domain name from one entity to another, issuing a new 2 year registration to the new registrant. New registrants must meet auDA's eligibility requirements and agree to DBDS's terms and conditions.

To complete the Registrant Name Change, the domain name must be registered through DBDS and the existing registrant will need to have access to the registrant email address for the domain name, to approve the transfer of ownership. The proposed new registrant completing this form will need to supply the Domain Name Password (this can be retrieved here) and provide payment details when submitting an application online.

The following are things to consider when registering a domain name:

  • The only characters allowed are letters, digits and a hyphen (-) but the name cannot start or end in a hyphen.
  • Spaces are not allowed.
  • The name should be between 3 and 63 characters long. (Shorter the domain the better).
  • www. is not actually part of the domain name.
  • You can buy as many domain names as you wish so long as you continue to pay the required registration fees on renewal.
  • Domain names are NOT cAsE sEnSiTiVe - so abc.com.au is just the same as ABC.com.au.
