Transfer of Domain Name Between Members

  • The owner of a domain name is the individual or company whose name is listed at the time of registration. You can determine the ownership of a domain name by performing a WhoIs search .

    The current Registrant must initiate the transfer process.

    The only way to legally change the ownership of a domain name is to undergo a Transfer of Domain Name. There are a number of reasons why people would want to transfer a domain name, including selling a domain.

    The new Registrant will have to become a member of DBDS - Net Domains before the transfer of domain name can occur.

Domain Name Helpful Hints

The following are things to consider when registering a domain name:

  • The only characters allowed are letters, digits and a hyphen (-) but the name cannot start or end in a hyphen.
  • Spaces are not allowed.
  • The name should be between 3 and 63 characters long. (Shorter the domain the better).
  • www. is not actually part of the domain name.
  • You can buy as many domain names as you wish so long as you continue to pay the required registration fees on renewal.
  • Domain names are NOT cAsE sEnSiTiVe - so abc.com.au is just the same as ABC.com.au.
